Stunt Coordinating is about more than staging elaborate action sequences, fight scenes, car chases, and gun battles. Those are a big part of it. Sometimes all a film needs is one punch thrown, or someone to be dragged across a room, or maybe just some reaction training for an actor. Safety is really what it is all about. No one wants anyone to get hurt on their sets. It does happen, but with a trained eye on the set, or in the theatre for live productions, that risk can be minimized. Helping actors feel comfortable with "staged violence" is one of the greatest things a stunt coordinator does. Comfortable actors give more convincing performances on both stage and screen. |
